You can get your own private plane overseas for just £119 return – here’s how
BOOKING a private jet for a vacation might seem too expensive for most people, but that might not be the case anymore.
There are ways to avoid booking with commercial airlines, while getting away on your own plane and you can do it without breaking the bank.
Flight sharing site Wing has brought together what it calls “a trusted international community of pilots and passengers” so people can find their own pilot for their next trip.
The platform has over 21,000 pilots waiting to pick up passengers on 5,000 different flight routes, making it an affordable and authentic alternative to booking with an airline.
A recent article for the Daily Mail detailed how two people were able to get a return flight from England to France for just £119.
The pair were booked into a four-seater Cessna plane for just over £100, for a trip that took less than an hour.
He flew from Surrey and landed in the small seaside town of Le Touquet.
Passenger Jonathan Ray said: “We met at the Pilot’s Hub Cafe in Hangar 9 where Steve, our pilot, joined us for a coffee and then invited us for a walk to his Cessna 172 at four. seats waiting for us.
“About 45 minutes later, we landed at The Touquet-Paris-Elisabeth II Beach.
“Getting off the plane, showing our passports, renting two bikes, cycling into town and settling in the bar at the Hôtel Barrière Le Westminster took 16 minutes in all.”
Wingly not only offers passengers the opportunity to travel cheaper.
There are many guided tours available, with pilots taking passengers over London, or places like Silverstone and the Isle of Wight.
A customer who did an Isle of Wight sightseeing tour said: “We had a fantastic time on our trip and our pilot was brilliant.
“He took the time to explain everything and made us feel very safe.
“We would definitely recommend Wingly to our family and friends, it’s been a great experience.”
Another who visited Land’s End wrote: ‘If you get the chance to do it, well worth it.
“The driver was fantastic and very capable, would definitely do it again in the future.”
In the meantime, this woman ended up having a private jetwhen she ended up being the only passenger on her flight.
These passengers were also amazed to discover that their plane was completely empty after boarding.
