Royal Cliff Hotels Pattaya Wins Best SHA Award for Hotel Accommodation
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is honored to announce 160 winners of the “Best of SHA Awards 2021” for excellence in implementing the required safety and hygiene measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, thus helping to ensure the health and safety of all, visitors and staff.
Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of TAT, said, “The Best of SHA Awards 2021 were launched in June last year to seek out the best SHA-certified companies in the 10 categories covered by the certification and celebrate their excellence. The initiative aims to encourage commercial operators to adhere to the SHA standard at all times and maintain consistency in their approaches to safety and hygiene. »
‘The Best of SHA Awards 2021’ is based on a Voice of Customer user satisfaction survey and was conducted from June 10 to October 20, 2021. Some 132,256 users submitted their feedback by completing a questionnaire on certified products and services SHA they experience in terms of consistency in meeting the SHA standard and having a ‘white’ tourism standard (convenience, cleanliness, safety, fairness and environmental friendliness).
There are 11 winners of the “Best of SHA Awards”, one for each of the 10 categories, namely:
- The Grand Palace and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha – category of recreational activities and tourist attractions.
- Kathi Baan Ahaan Thai and Khanom –category of restaurants and diners.
- Royal Cliff Hotel Group –category of hotel and homestay accommodation.
- Thai Air Asia – transport category (air transport).
- Classy car rental –category of transport (overland).
- JampaHom Tour and Travel –category of travel agencies.
- Onsen Relaxation and Thonglor Spa –health and beauty category.
- Siam Paragon – category of department stores and shopping centers.
- Alpine Golf Club –category of sports for tourism.
- Power of Aksra Theater King – category of activity/meeting and theatre/entertainment.
- Gastronomic market – MRT Ladprao –category of souvenir shops and others.
Meanwhile, 81 SHA-certified tourism-related businesses have received 3 stars for consistent adherence to the SHA standard and have a white tourism standard (rated above 90 points).
Another 46 companies received 2 stars for their consistent adherence to the SHA standard (scoring above 80 but below 90 points).
Last but not least, 33 others received 1 star for their consistent adherence to the SHA standard (rating above 70 but below 80 points).
The “Best of SHA Awards 2021” award ceremony, which took place on March 10, 2022, was chaired by Mr. YuthasakSupasorn, Governor of TAT. The event was co-hosted by Mr. ApichaiChatchalermkit, TAT Deputy Governor for Tourism Products and Affairs, and Ms. ThapaneeKiatphaiboon, TAT Deputy Governor for Domestic Market.

About SHA and SHA Plus certificates
The Amazing Thailand SHA certification was introduced in May 2020 and has been certified by the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in accordance with the WTTC SafeTravels protocols.
The SHA Plus High certification was first introduced in Phuket in June 2021, as the popular tourist island was set to pilot Thailand’s reopening under the Sandbox program from July 1, 2021.
SHA and SHA Plus certifications are used to assess 10 types of businesses; namely restaurants and diners; hotels, accommodation and homestays; recreational activities and tourist attractions; transport; travel agency; health and beauty; department stores and malls; sports for tourism; activities and meetings, theaters and entertainment, souvenir shops and other businesses.
Meanwhile, SHA Extra Plus (SHA++) are lodging establishments certified to have partnered with medical establishments for medical testing and treatment related to COVID-19.
As of March 7, 2022, some 42,191 tourism-related businesses had been certified with the Amazing Thailand SHA certificate, the top 3 being restaurants and diners; hotels, accommodation and homestays, and transportation. (TAT)
