Leeds United striker Bamford was not seen boarding the plane before West Ham
Patrick Bamford was not seen among Leeds United players traveling to London to play at West Ham.
Leeds fan ‘GoosePower’ shared images on his personal Twitter account on Saturday which showed the team at Leeds-Bradford Airport before boarding a plane for London.
Marcelo Bielsa is clearly seen alone and it is understood that while Bamford, 28, was not present, Pascal Struijk and Rodrigo were there.
Bielsa told the media on Friday that Bamford, Struijk and Rodrigo could all be available to play [Phil Hay].
Bielsa wasn’t exactly conclusive when he spoke about Bamford during his press conference on Friday afternoon.
At first, he suggested that Bamford would not play as he was still lacking in match fitness. As shown on Leeds’ official Twitter account, Bielsa said that “the takeover of Bamford is still not finalized”.
He then said later that he, Struijk and Rodrigo could all be involved against West Ham, so maybe something got lost in translation.
Either way, it doesn’t look like Bamford will be involved.
Of course, he might travel separately from the rest of the squad for one reason or another, but we expect Bielsa to want everyone to stick together.
We’ll find out for sure an hour before kick-off on Sunday, but if Bamford aren’t involved there’s no reason to be shocked due to Friday’s confusion and the images that have emerged on Twitter Saturday.
Leeds have struggled to score goals this season without Bamford but they still have the ability to win games.
Rodrigo’s potential return means he could start up front, but he’s been out for a while now and may have to come back slowly.
In other Leeds United news, Los Blancos are privately hoping for a massive increase in injuries.
