Beijing will become the most popular tourist destination during the traditional Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival as the Universal Beijing Resort plans to officially open its doors to visitors on September 20, ThePaper reported on Thursday.

Search volume for flights to Beijing topped 11 times in 30 minutes compared to the same period last week when the station announced its opening, the online outlet said, citing the online platform Qunar.

Data from online travel agency Lvmama showed that after the announcement, search volume based on the keywords “Beijing Universal” jumped seven times from the same period last month.

Beijing has maintained its lead as the most popular tourist destination for days with its search popularity far ahead of other cities, according to online travel booking platform Ctrip.

On September 6, the number of people booking travel products in Beijing during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday through Ctrip increased eightfold from August 20. , up about 20 percent from last year, Ctrip said.

Outside of Beijing, airline tickets to other cities posted a “good price” during the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.

Currently, the average price of a plane ticket booked through Qunar was only 600 yuan, the lowest price in history, ThePaper said.

Some plane ticket prices are even cheaper than train tickets, such as the plane ticket from Zhengzhou to Ningbo 362 yuan while the price of the second class high-speed train ticket is 528 yuan. The ticket price from Tianjin to Lanzhou is 393 yuan for the plane and 694 yuan for the train, while it is 219 yuan and 757 yuan, respectively, from Xi’an to Kunming.

As the COVID-19 epidemic situation on the Chinese mainland stabilized, some provinces announced the removal of the ban on interprovincial group travel, and some tourist attractions began welcoming tourists. .

Compared to Aug. 20, the volume of inter-provincial group travel and independent travel orders booked through Ctrip jumped 365% on Sept. 20, and family travel order volume jumped 550 percent, ThePaper said. .

Guiyang, Hulun Buir, Chengdu, Sanya, Urumchi, Jiuzhaigou, Hohhot, Xining, Enshi, and Huangshan are popular destinations for family trips.

The short-haul route is still the mainstream, and car and high-speed trains from central towns to neighboring towns and counties are in high demand, ThePaer said, citing online travel agency Tongcheng-eLong.

In addition, many tourists this year choose to spend their mid-autumn vacation in themed hotels. According to Ctrip, the search volume for themed hotels has increased by 82% in recent days.

Space Flight Training Tour Guide http://meeturplanet.com/space-flight-training-tour-guide/ http://meeturplanet.com/space-flight-training-tour-guide/#respond Sun, 22 Aug 2021 18:55:34 +0000 http://meeturplanet.com/space-flight-training-tour-guide/

Since Virgin Galactic’s Sir Richard Branson and Amazon.com’s Jeff Bezos flew into space last month, the question of how to train for such an experience has become a priority. It’s been a long time coming, but suborbital space tourism is now a reality.

The beauty of waiting over a decade for my own VG flight was that there was a lot of time to train for it. While training is not required – VG works in their Future Astronaut Program a few days of prep at Spaceport America in New Mexico before the flight – I thought about designing my own regimen to mimic the actual experience as best I could. could. That way when my seat number pops up – I should be on Flight 102, if not sooner – I’ll know what to expect. In my opinion, there are three main areas to be aware of: the extreme air speed and altitude, the weightlessness and the intense G forces felt during takeoff and reentry.

To get a feel for the supersonic speed and the high altitude views, I traveled to Russia for a flight to the edge of space in a MiG-25 Foxbat fighter jet. We were supposed to reach an altitude of 84,000 feet. Up there, nearly a third of the height of VG’s SpaceShipTwo, the darkness of space, the curvature of the Earth, and the thin atmosphere hanging over the planet are said to be visible. Sure enough, when we reached climax, the band of air enveloping the planet was incredibly thin – a curved sliver of blue-violet light against a black background. To reach this level, we had to reach Mach 2.6, a little over two and a half times the speed of sound. VG’s SS2 peaked a bit above Mach 3, so we were pretty close. It was difficult to judge the speed, because the higher you climbed, the fewer reference points you could see.

Then there was a zero-G flight in an Ilyushin-76 (the equivalent of the American “emetic comet” KC-135 in which NASA astronauts train), still in Russia. In bursts of 30 seconds each on the diving part of the parabolic flight, you are completely in zero gravity and learn to face the unknown environment. My first instinct when I was floating was to breaststroke towards something, like when I was a lifeguard when I was a teenager. Bad move. Since we were in the air, not in the water, I didn’t go anywhere. You learn that in order to head in a particular direction, it has to push something, and then it will move unimpeded in the opposite direction of the push. It was also cool to open a bottle of Evian, say, and then try to catch the water marbles coming out of the top in your mouth. We flew a total of 10 dishes in zero gravity. I can see why they call these planes “vomit comets”. If we had done another one I probably would have fallen ill, as did three of our group.

Finally, I went to train, this time in the United States, in the NASTAR centrifuge near Philadelphia, PA. The circular apparatus, which spins like a giant “clock hand” with the test subject in a sort of crucible at the end, is able to simulate G forces similar to those that will be experienced in VG flight, with a maximum of 6 G, or six times its body weight. We have learned to breathe with essentially the weight of a small elephant on our chests, using what is called the “hook maneuver” (look upwards) to keep the blood in the upper torso. It’s not easy, but it works. So I won’t be surprised and will be ready to deal with similar G forces encountered in SS2. And, believe me, we will experience them.

By the way, the fifty or so astronauts I’ve interviewed over the years, including Sen. John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, and Buzz Aldrin, all say to focus on the view from space, not the weightlessness, the speed of the craft or the G forces. Seeing the Earth up there is supposed to be life changing. I got a little taste of it in the MiG, and can’t wait to see it from above. Let’s light this candle and start this party!

Emergency hotel accommodation for the homeless in Glasgow will continue until the pandemic is over http://meeturplanet.com/emergency-hotel-accommodation-for-the-homeless-in-glasgow-will-continue-until-the-pandemic-is-over/ http://meeturplanet.com/emergency-hotel-accommodation-for-the-homeless-in-glasgow-will-continue-until-the-pandemic-is-over/#respond Fri, 13 Aug 2021 07:00:00 +0000 http://meeturplanet.com/emergency-hotel-accommodation-for-the-homeless-in-glasgow-will-continue-until-the-pandemic-is-over/ Emergency hotel accommodation will still be used for people in Glasgow at risk of becoming homeless as the country continues to grapple with the coronavirus, it has been confirmed.

During the Hillhead region partnership, it was revealed that Glasgow City Council will continue to provide access to temporary shelters until the country is no longer under a public health emergency.

Glasgow City Council’s Health and Social Services Partnership (HSCP) has been working on its rapid relocation transition plan to end the use of guesthouses and hotels to accommodate homeless households since 2017 .

The pandemic has delayed plans to help people in this situation find permanent housing, with local authorities being required to rapidly expand the supply of emergency housing since March of last year.

During Tuesday’s committee meeting, concerns were raised about the number of people living at the Chez Nous hotel by Councilor Martha Wardrop.

She said, “I would like it to be noted that a petition was submitted to the Health and Social Care Partnership Community Engagement Committee regarding Chez Nous last December.

“A lot of work is being done to fix the problem. I also have concerns about the use of hotel accommodation [by people facing homelessness] and if it continues until next March.

The petition, which was presented to the Integrated Joint Board (IJB) last December, called for “appropriate and adequately supported” housing for homeless people seeking help instead of resorting to guesthouses temporary.

Hillhead residents believe safe accommodation would not only mean better living conditions and opportunities for the homeless, but also create a safer environment in Hillhead for a community severely affected by antisocial behavior, petty crime and serious acts of violence directly associated with these guesthouses.

City Councilor Gary Quinn said: “The debate [regarding this petition] at IGB was useful for everyone. We will continue to provide access to emergency accommodation until the end of the public health emergency.

“We are committed to providing transitional housing to those living in emergency accommodation after covid. It is not known when this will be designated.

Mr Quinn also confirmed that the minutes of the IGB’s discussion of the petition will be presented to a future Hillhead partnership.

Glasgow HSCP is currently developing a strategy that will end the use of B & Bs and hotels as hostels for good. An updated plan will be released next month.

Hotel accommodation for migrants will cost up to £ 70million this year http://meeturplanet.com/hotel-accommodation-for-migrants-will-cost-up-to-70million-this-year/ http://meeturplanet.com/hotel-accommodation-for-migrants-will-cost-up-to-70million-this-year/#respond Mon, 09 Aug 2021 07:00:00 +0000 http://meeturplanet.com/hotel-accommodation-for-migrants-will-cost-up-to-70million-this-year/

The most recent official figures show that around 8,700 migrants were accommodated in almost 90 different hotels across the UK in February, up from 1,200 in March last year.

The Covid pandemic has partly contributed to the increase in hotel use after the Home Office and its contractors Serco, Mears and Clearsprings halted the movement of asylum seekers from existing properties.

At the same time, the number of migrants crossing the Channel has tripled compared to last year. The government is legally required to house them, although more than 80% of them have subsequently had their asylum claims rejected.

The total asylum budget has doubled in six years to almost £ 1 billion in 2019/20, with millions of pounds spent annually on canceled flights for failed asylum seekers hampered by legal challenges and £ 40million claimed annually for asylum legal aid. case.

Almost £ 400million of that £ 1bn is spent on housing not only more than 40,000 current asylum seekers but also around 19,400 failed claimants, many of whom have filed numerous appeals against the claims rejected.

The National Audit Office has estimated that it costs £ 560 to house each person per month. The Interior Ministry launched “Operation Oak” to reduce the number of detainees in hotels.

Problems encountered by the Home Office in reducing the number were compounded by the refusal of local authorities to accept asylum seekers.

Kent County Council, which is on the front lines of the migrant crisis, said it could no longer take unaccompanied children safely because it had exceeded its legal maximum. Children are believed to account for 10 percent of migrant arrivals.

For example, in Brazil, booking sites were mainly used to book flights while they were used to book accommodation mainly in Mexico. In Argentina, online travel sites came first as the preferred channel for booking both flights and accommodation.

“It’s an unstoppable trend in every way, so OTAs will definitely be riding a very positive wave for years to come as people become more and more digital and develop a taste for travel as one of the most popular things. desired life. Said Loureiro.

While Mexico held the highest online travel market share at 46%, Brazil took 31%, according to the study. However, Brazil led the online travel startup market with 82 in 2020 and Mexico came in second with 43 online travel startups.

The study also found that Despegar.com, a company founded in Argentina, has successfully established itself as the leading online travel agency in Latin America, where it controls up to 10% of the market share. The second agency, CVC.com.br, controls around 6.7% of the market share.
