Exclusive: Nathan Dawes reveals his fear of flying
Nathan Dawe puts the needle on the downside of being a globetrotting DJ… he’s developed a fear of flying.
In an exclusive chat with Guilty Pleasures, Nathan admitted, “I was really scared of flying this year. I made 86 flights this summer. Most people do two a year… the odds increase for me to be in a plane crash.
“Sometimes I look out the window and think, ‘We shouldn’t be here, we shouldn’t be floating in the air. I am starting to be afraid.
The 28-year-old, who recently completed his second residency at Ibiza Rocks, also finds himself in a tough spot after boarding so many flights. “I have so many pimples right now, it’s a nightmare!” he exclaimed.
Meanwhile, Nathan is hoping to soar up the charts with new single Sweet Lies, featuring Talia Mar, which is inspired by Shanks & Bigfoot’s 1999 garage classic, Sweet Like Chocolate.
“Shanks and Bigfoot said it was an amazing release and wished me luck. I am very grateful that they gave us the green light,” he said.
And when was the last time Nathan, from Burton-on-Trent, told a white lie?
“I had the opportunity to become a DJ in a local club, I had just turned 16”, he recalls. “A few weeks into labor they said, ‘I’m just checking, how old are you again? I said, “I just turned 18.” I worked there as a miner for a few years.
Nathan plays his biggest show yet at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on December 23 – thankfully he won’t have to hop on a plane for that.
