Everything is ready for the start of the Antarctic cruise season in Ushuaia
According to the authorities of the port of Ushuaia, Atlas Ocean Voyages plans fifteen stopovers, the maiden voyage with the World Navigator will take place on November 19
Atlas Ocean Voyages gave more details on how they plan to operate their Antarctic cruises in the upcoming 2021/2022 season departing from Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego province.
According to reports presented to the port authorities of Ushuaia and published on their website, Atlas Ocean Voyages is planning fifteen stopovers, the maiden voyage with the World Navigator will take place on November 19, followed by a second on the 28th.
However, to comply with the strict health regulations currently in Argentina, the cruise line will transport passengers from Ezeiza or Santiago International Airport to Ushuaia on a chartered private jet.
âWe have the confirmation and we take off,â said Alberto Aliberti, president of Atlas Ocean Voyages in Argentina. “There was a lot of speculation, and we had a plan B, but it doesn’t matter anymore.”
He added: “We believe that we have had a quick positive response from the authorities because of the air transport bubble proposal.” The company is planning a three-hour rest at the main South American airport, before departing for Ushuaia, but they will be greeted with brunch and champagne. The Antarctica package includes courtesy trips from sixteen embarkation cities in the United States and Canada, to Orlando, Florida, from where the chartered plane flies to Tierra del Fuego.
Once in Ushuaia, passengers are escorted through the migration and taken to the World Navigator, ready for the cruise while the luggage is distributed among the cabins. Scheduled cruises include two in November, three in December, three in January, three in February, and the last four in March, the last of which concluding the 2021/22 season will leave Ushuaia on March 31.
